AUSTIN, Texas – The St. Edward’s men’s soccer fell to #3 Midwestern State, 0-2, Sunday afternoon at Lewis-Chen Family Field.

 

St. Edward’s (3-2) fought strong in the first half. Midwestern State (4-1) matched St. Edward’s in speed and size making it an even fight, but neither team could find the back of the net.

 

In the second half, St. Edward’s started to turn on the offensive pressure maintaining control of the ball, having multiple runs and shots on goal.

 

In the 62^nd minute the Hilltoppers would get an unfortunate call when Bryan Booth (Senior, Colleyville, Texas) was given a red card, forcing the team to play the remainder of the match one man down.

 

In the 75^th minute VcMor Eligwe scored a one-timer off of a cross from David Freeland. Eligwe would put the game away in the 86^th minute off a break away, beating Hilltopper keeper John Kaschak (Sophomore, Allen, Texas) one-on-one.

 

Midwestern State outshot the Hilltoppers 16-10.

 

The Hilltoppers will be back in action Friday when they travel to take on long-time rival St. Mary’s.  Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. in San Antonio. Live stats and video will be available on the St. Mary’s Athletic Website.
