Hoosiers Add Betscher As Volunteer Coach
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Morgan Betscher, a former player at West Virginia University, has joined the Indiana Women’s Soccer program as a volunteer assistant coach, IU head coach Amy Berbary announced today.
“Morgan brings a winning reputation to our program, both on the field and in the classroom,” said Berbary. “She is a terrific addition to our staff and we are ecstatic to welcome her to the IU Women’s Soccer family.”
Betscher, a native of Decatur, Ill., played four seasons at West Virginia University and helped the Mountaineers to back-to-back BIG EAST Championships and four straight appearances in the NCAA Tournament during her career. She received BIG EAST All-Academic Team honors each of her four seasons in Morgantown in addition to being named to the Garrett Ford Academic Honor Roll and the Dean’s List. Over her four-year career, she helped WVU amass a record of 52-19-13.
"This is a great opportunity to work with a great coaching staff and an outstanding program,” Betscher said. “Everyone on staff has a winning reputation and I’m looking forward to helping propel IU women’s soccer to that next level."
Over the past two summers, Betscher has helped coach and evaluate players at the Region II ODP Camp and also worked WVU summer camp each year she was enrolled.
While she attended MacArthur High School, she was a three-year team captain of the soccer team and earned all-state accolades from 2005-07. She played club soccer for St. Louis Soccer Club, winning the 2005 national championship, and was a member of the ODP regional teams for three seasons.
She graduated from WVU in 2011 with a B.S. in Physical Education/Health Education.
Indiana will open the regular season on Aug. 23 at Ohio and then return to Bill Armstrong Stadium on Aug. 25 for the home opener against Georgia Southern.
