Hope Edges Adrian 1-0 On The Road
Ethan Beswick made six saves to lead the No. 24-ranked Hope men's soccer team to a road shutout of Adrian College on Tuesday.
The sophomore goalkeeper from Grand Haven (Grand Haven HS) helped the Flying Dutchmen claim a 1-0 win in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play.
Hope stayed in second place in the league standings after improving to 7-2-1 overall and 3-1 in league action.
The Flying Dutchmen received the offense they needed from junior Logan Sikkenga of Hudsonville (Hudsonville HS), pictured at right, in the first half. The reigning MIAA Defensive Player of the Week scored a goal for the second time in three matches, burying a header in front of the goal off a pass from senior Jason Muller of Petoskey (Petoskey).
Sikkenga has three goals on the season. He had two goals against Albion on Sept. 25.
The Flying Dutchmen return to action on Saturday, Oct. 5 when they host Olivet for homecoming. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.
