Hopkinson Named C-USA Player of the Week
ODU’S TIM HOPKINSON NAMED C-USA PLAYER OF THE WEEK
IRVING, TX – For the second time this season, ODU senior forward Tim Hopkinson (Nottingham, England) has been named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week. Hopkinson scored the game winning goals in a pair of overtime matches at Charlotte Wednesday and against No. 10 UAB Saturday as Old Dominion won by identical, 3-2, scores in both matches. Hopkinson now has four game-winning goals this season. He also assisted on a goal at Charlotte. Hopkinson boasts 29 career goals and 17 career assists which rank him eighth all-time at ODU in goals, eighth all-time in career assists and his 75 total points put him fourth all-time at ODU. Hopkinson currently leads the Monarchs with eight total goals along with two assists for 18 total points. He ranks 11th nationally in goals scored and ninth nationally in total points.
The Monarchs, 6-3-1 overall and 3-1 in C-USA have played five overtime matches and are 2-2-1 (winning vs. Charlotte and UAB, losing 2-1 to Creighton, tying Maryland 1-1 and losing to Kentucky). ODU is 2-1-1 against nationally ranked teams this year. The Monarchs beating Tulsa and UAB, tied Maryland and lost to Creighton.
ODU returns to action Saturday night in Miami, FL., at Florida International.
