Horst Heralded as MAAC Player of the Week
LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – Siena Women’s Soccer junior striker Kelsey Horst has been heralded as the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week. The Chalfont, Pennsylvania native earns the honor for the first time in her career, after totaling seven points and scoring the game-winning goals in each of Siena’s victories last week.
On Wednesday, Horst scored the decisive tally in the Saints’ 2-0 win over Quinnipiac which clinched the program its fourth straight MAAC Tournament berth. In Saturday’s MAAC Championship rematch against Manhattan, she again scored the decisive goal and finished with a career-high five points on two goals and an assist to help Siena secure the No. 2 seed and a bye to the semifinals of the conference tournament.
Following her career week, Horst now ranks tied for fifth in the MAAC in assists (six), tied for sixth in scoring (18) and tied for eighth in goals (six). She is also tied with six others for the conference lead in game-winning goals with three.
Horst and the Saints conclude their regular season slate Wednesday with a 4 p.m. kickoff at Canisius. The reigning MAAC Champions will then prepare to defend their title when they open conference tournament action in the semifinal round on Friday, Nov. 4 in West Long Branch, New Jersey against the highest advancing seed from the quarterfinals. Regular season champion Monmouth will serve as the host for both the semifinals and championship matches.
