Impossible To Play Rice-Houston Match
The Rice Soccer team's home game vs. crosstown rival Houston, originally scheduled for this Sunday (Aug. 27), was cancelled due to catastrophic weather conditions in the area this weekend. The first regular season soccer meeting between the crosstown rivals since 2012 will not be rescheduled.
"Both teams wanted to play this match, and the fans for both schools want to see Rice-Houston," said Owl head coach Nicky Adams. "It just didn't work out this time. We hope everyone in the city and state is safe from the weather this weekend."
Rice was able to beat the local weather by moving up its game vs. Baylor from its original Aug. 25 date to Thursday (Aug. 24). That contest finished in a 0-0 tie after two overtime periods with no complications from the weather.
