Iona Student-Athletes At Honors Convocation
NEW ROCHELLE, NY – Iona College celebrated the academic achievements of its most outstanding students at its annual Honors Convocation on Friday, May 18. All graduating seniors who were members of honor societies were recognized during the ceremony.
Among all the graduating seniors were numerous student-athletes. The event was headlined by the class of 2018 Valedictorian, senior Gabriella Di Domizio of the Iona lacrosse program. Di Domizio graduated with a perfect 4.0 GPA and a degree in ACS Chemistry. In addition to her numerous records on the field with the lacrosse program, the Lansdale, PA native is a three-time MAAC All-Academic Team honoree and two-time CoSIDA All-District First Team Selection. She is a member of the Gamma Sigma Epsilon chemistry and Delta Epsilon Sigma national honor societies.
Di Domizio is the recipient of the Dr. Henry L. Logan Medal for Excellence in Science. Christine Rebus of women's soccer earned the Roth Memorial Medal for Excellence in Business Administration and Anna Higdon of women's soccer received the Iona Medal for Excellence in Business Administration.
Devika Joshi of women's water water polo was given The George And Margaret Pappas Medical School Scholarship Award which is given to a full-time senior who's accepted to a school of medicine or to a program in a related health science. The scholarship award is a perpetual tribute to the many years of devoted service given to Iona College by Dr. & Mrs. Pappas.
Each department of Iona College's School of Arts & Science and School of Business awarded its top-performing students with its respective Departmental Awards. Seven student-athletes earned these distinctions.
