Jackets stay unbeaten with 6-1 result
SBORO, Ky. - Christian Alexander scored twice and Zack Gatlin assisted on two goals to lead Cedarville to a 6-1 victory at Kentucky Wesleyan in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference encounter.
Alexander netted his first goal of the season in the third minute with Connor Gilmour assisting.
Jared Newman tucked in his first tally on a nifty pass from Zach Harris for a 2-0 lead 10 minutes in.
After the host Panthers got on the board in the 28th, it took awhile for CU to shake free of the hosts. Four goals in a span of 13 minutes resulted in the difference.
A Connor Scott steal and finish made it 3-1 in the 73rd minute. Gatlin set up Stephen Morris in the 82nd and then assisted on Alexander's second goal just 61 seconds later.
Joel Twinem's unassisted score in the 86th ended the late run.
The Yellow Jackets, 4-0-2 overall and 2-0 G-MAC, outshot KWC 30-7 overall and 16-7 on goal.
Paulo Diniz made his collegiate debut in goal and made five saves.
Cedarville heads to Slippery Rock (Pa.) on Wednesday at 1:30 for their fourth contest on the current six-match road swing.
