JMU Men Lose at Northeastern 1-0
BROOKLINE, Mass., Oct. 6, 2012 -- Northeastern eked out a 1-0 win over visiting James Madison in Colonial Athletic Association men's soccer Saturday afternoon.
The Huskies became the only unbeaten team in CAA play as they improved to 2-0-1 in the CAA and 7-1-2 overall and increased their home winning streak to 11 games. JMU, which lost its first league game of the year, has a 4-5-2 overall record and is 2-1-1 in the CAA.
Northeastern's goal came in the 29th minute on a header by Conner Alexander off a throw-in from Nikko Lara.
The Huskies out-shot JMU 12-9, and NU goalie Oliver Blum made three saves to get the shutout. One of those stops came in the 82nd minute, when he tipped a shot by JMU senior Christian McLaughlin over the crossbar.
JMU redshirt junior goalkeeper Colin Newcity finished with two saves.
