Kats Blank Corning to Open Season
CORNING, N.Y. – Sept. 1. – The Erie Community College men’s soccer team recorded its third-straight win in its season opener as the Kats recorded a 4-0 win over Corning Community College in Region III play. The win also marked the third-straight time ECC has opened the season with a shutout.
The Kats got goals from sophomores Otuken Gildo (Buffalo, N.Y./East), Taylor Sentz (Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier), Zach Szafranek (Buffalo, N.Y./Hutch Tech) and freshman Mark Tellgren (Springville, N.Y./Springville). Freshman Alexander Drainville (Orchard Park, N.Y./St. Francis) added a pair of assists. Also credited with assists were freshmen Matt Jones (Eden, N.Y./Eden) and Ahmed Alghanmi (Buffalo, N.Y./Bennett).
Sophomore Rich Bund (Silver Creek, N.Y./Silver Creek) made nine saves to record the shutout.
ECC plays Genesee Community College at 5 p.m. Thursday at Jim Ball Stadium.
