Lamar’s Bos honored by Southland Conference
BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University freshman Kristin Bos was named the Southland Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week the conference announced Tuesday.
Bos, a native of Valencia, Calif., set a school record with six points on two goals and two assists in Lamar’s 7-0 win over Grambling State on Aug. 26.
“It’s a very nice reward for a great performance,” Lamar coach Dewi Hardman said of Bos’ honor. “She showed she can get to the right place at the right time, and she was able to put away her chances.”
Bos’ performance helped Lamar set school records for most goals in a game and largest margin of victory.
The Lady Cardinals (1-1-0) return to action at 7 p.m. Friday with a non-conference road game at Houston Baptist.
This will be the second-ever meeting between the two teams. Lamar and Houston Baptist battled to a 1-1 tie at the Lamar Soccer Complex last season.
Houston Baptist, a member of the Great West Conference, is 1-3-0 on the season. The Huskies are 1-1 against members of the Southland Conference, posting a 2-0 home win over McNeese State and dropping a 2-1 decision at Sam Houston State.
“I think this game will be a good measure of where we stand in our conference,” Hardman said. “Also, it’s a local rivalry. It would be a big win for our standing in the local soccer community.”
