LU women’s soccer blanked by HBU
HOUSTON – The Lamar University women’s soccer team couldn’t battle back from a slow start in a 3-0 non-conference loss at Houston Baptist on Friday.
Lamar (1-2-0) surrendered a pair of goals in the first 7 minutes, 30 seconds, putting the Lady Cardinals in a large deficit in the early going.
Natalie Hager had two goals for Houston Baptist (2-3-0), including one just 2:13 into the contest. Amina Radoncic scored the other goal for the Huskies.
Shelby Horn made three saves to earn the shutout. Lisa Topping and Kimmy Albeno took three shots apiece for Lamar.
The Lady Cardinals travel to Flagstaff, Ariz., to compete in the Hilton Garden Inn High Altitude Tournament next weekend. Lamar takes on Evansville at 6 p.m. Friday before clashing with Ball State at noon Sept. 18.
