LU soccer rolls over Grambling State
BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University women’s soccer team enjoyed a record-setting night Friday in a 7-0 victory over Grambling State at the Lamar Soccer Complex.
The seven goals marked a school record as did the seven-goal margin of victory. In addition, freshman Kristin Bos established a single-game standard with six points on two goals and two assists.
Laura Hicks, Lisa Topping, Rachelle Barry, Stefanie Miroballi and Kimmy Albeno had one goal apiece for Lamar (1-1-0), Jennifer Gibbs made six saves for her seventh career shutout.
“We finished our opportunities tonight,” Lamar coach Dewi Hardman said. “In the past years, when we had chances against teams like this, we just couldn’t score.”
The Lady Cardinals took control of the game early and built a 6-0 lead at halftime. For the game, Lamar outshot Grambling State 32-11.
The Lady Cardinals return to action at 7 p.m. Sept. 2 at Houston Baptist.
