COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's soccer team couldn't answer three late second half goals Sunday afternoon and fell to the visiting Huskies of Michigan Tech by the score of 4-1.
Michigan Tech's (9-3-1; 6-1-1 GLIAC) Alyssa Hynnek broke things open with a goal at the 38:09 mark of the opening half. Hynnek went on a breakaway to the 10 yard line and scored into the bottom right hand corner.
At the 44:39 mark, freshman Madison Baldwin (Zanesville, Ohio) chipped a ball over goalkeeper Jenna Phelps head to give the Panthers (8-5-2, 5-4-1 GLIAC) the 1-1 tie. Freshman Kelly Johnson (Berea, Ohio) passed the ball to the 10 yard line for Baldwin's goal.
The Huskies closed the first half with a 6-3 advantage in shots.
In the 68th minute, MTU's Jacqueline Mielke gave the Huskies a 2-1 lead after going one-on-one with goalkeeper junior Laura Clark (Lapeer, Mich.), who dove to her right, but could not stop Mielke's shot.
The Huskies added another tally at the 86:12 mark when Haley Crites passed Katie Boardman a ball to the box, and connected to the bottom right corner for her fifth goal of the season and the 3-1 lead.
A minute later, Boardman notched her sixth goal when she sent a bouncing ball from the 40 yard line over Clark's head.
