Lehigh earns yet another academic team award
Complete United Soccer Coaches Release
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Continuing its stellar success in the classroom, the Lehigh women's soccer team has garnered a United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 15th time in the last 16 years. The award is for the 2017-18 academic year as the Mountain Hawks posted a 3.56 team GPA, tops among all Lehigh Athletics squads.
College Team Academic Award recipients are those with a composite grade point of average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster. In total, 484 women's squads across Division I, II, and III received the award.
The award continues a long list of academic honors for the Mountain Hawks. Last season, Amanda Stratton was named a CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree while Sam Miller was named to the Academic All-Patriot League team. Stratton also received her team's third straight Scholar-Athlete of the Year award at the annual end-of-year banquet. Following the season, a school-record 23 Mountain Hawks were named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. Twelve of the Mountain Hawks' 23 honorees posted a GPA of 3.70 or higher, led by Stratton's 3.91. She was followed by Kylie Ginsberg (3.89), Ashley Maziarz (3.89), Annika Jansa (3.88), Mary Casey (3.88), Sam Miller (3.87) and Sidonie Warnecker (3.86).
The Mountain Hawks will return to action on Saturday when they travel to American to face the Eagles. Opening kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
