BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) announced on Wednesday the 2015 All-SWAC Soccer Teams for the end-of-the-season individual award recognition.
Alabama State came away with two nods as junior forwards Ariela Lewis and Aaliyah Lewis were each recognized for their season-long excellence as Ariela was named to the All-SWAC First Team and Aaliyah was voted onto the All-SWAC Second Team.
Accolades were voted on by the league's coaches and sports information directors.
It's been a sound bounce-back season for Ar. Lewis after she missed all, but one match in 2014 due to injury.
In 2015, she's come full circle.
Despite missing four games, she's now the leading scorer on the Lady Hornets squad with 26 points.
The two-time SWAC First Team selection has eight goals and a team-leading 10 assists including a game-winner versus Prairie View A&M on Oct. 25.
As for Aa. Lewis, she once again leads the team in goals for a third straight season with nine goals and added five assists for 23 points.
Although she missed three games, she also leads the team with three game-winning goals and added her program-leading seventh career hat trick in a win against Alabama A&M on Oct. 30.
This marks her third overall All-SWAC honor at the end of the season.
Previously, she was named to the All-SWAC First Team twice.
