Maganto has signs for NHK Hadjuk Split
CROATIA – Former Iona College men’s soccer standout Ignacio Maganto has officially signed for NHK Hadjuk Split of the Croatian first division. Maganto will be travelling overseas following a stint with the Major League Soccer’s LA Galaxy where he made 13 appearances after being draft in the 2015 SuperDraft; he scored one goal and tallied two assists in his quick spell.
The Madrid, Spain native is one of the most successful players to ever strap on the cleats in Iona men’s soccer history. In 71 total caps, the striker’s 27 goals rank fourth all-time in Gaels history, and his 14 assists sits tied for seventh in the record books. Maganto earned numerous accolades while donning the Maroon & Gold, including NSCAA All-Northeast Region First Team, ECAC All-Star First Team, and MAAC Offensive Player of the Year honors.
Maganto joined Hadjuk during the pre-season training and preparations in Slovenia before inking the official contract in late July. Last year Hadkuk finished third in the 2015-16 season, sealing a place in the Europa League second qualifying round.
