LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Rider sophomore goalkeeper Carmen Carbonell (Valencia, Spain/Guadalaviar School) made seven saves, but the Broncs women’s soccer team fell to Marist, 1-0, Saturday afternoon on Ben Cohen Field. With the loss, the Broncs slip to 5-4-2 (1-2-1 MAAC), while Red Foxes are still unblemished in the league at 5-4-1 (3-0-0 MAAC).

Carbonell made six of her seven saves in the first half to keep the game scoreless through 45 minutes. In the 63^rd minute, she made her seventh stop, but couldn’t corral the ball off of an Alexa Svensson shot. Kristen Reilly was there to knock in the rebound from close range.

The Broncs kept the pressure on in the second half, producing all seven of their shots in the period, but couldn’t find the back of the net. Meghan McCabe (Massapequa Park, NY/Massapequa) came closest to tying the game, but her header was headed over the crossbar by a Marist defender in the 77^th minute.

- The Red Foxes now lead the all-time series, 16-7-1, including wins in each of the last five.

- Rider was playing without center back Niamh Cashin (Nottingham, England/All Saints Academy) during the freshman’s stint with the England U-19 National Team’s UEFA Qualifying.
- Rider is now 2-3-2 this season when the opponent scores first.

- Marist a 12-7 edge in shots, including an 8-4 advantage in shots on goal.
