Marist Loses To NJIT On Home Stand
POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist men's soccer team fell to NJIT, 2-0, despite outshooting the Highlanders in a Saturday night match in Tenney Stadium.
The Red Foxes (1-2-0) were held off the scoreboard for the first time this season. Sophomore Kevin Kappock fired four of Marist's 15 shots, including one that hit the right post in the 26th minute. He also led a Marist defense that blocked three shots.
Freshman Bruce Jeter led the Red Foxes' offense with four shots in the loss.
NJIT got on the board in the 21st minute after junior Rickardo Oldham handled the ball at his feet and hit the open left side of the net. Sophomore Mamadou Guirassy scored nearly 50 minutes later and led the Highlanders with five shots.
Marist will host Columbia at 7 p.m. Sept. 8 in Tenney Stadium on the third match of the four-match home stand.
