Marist Men's Soccer To Host Binghamton
POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist men’s soccer team (1-3-0) will host Binghamton (3-1-0) at 7 p.m. Saturday. This will be the Red Foxes’ fourth and final match of its home stand. As part of the program’s alumni weekend, there will be a Marist men’s soccer alumni game at 3 p.m. in Tenney Stadium and a tailgate prior to the match against Binghamton.
Previous Outing
The Red Foxes fell to Columbia, 2-0, on Sept. 8 in Tenney Stadium. Lions’ sophomore Amit Shumowitz scored the first goal in the 25th minute and junior Rhys Williams scored shortly after. Marist sophomore Mark Rajovic made 10 saves to keep the game close. Columbia outshot Marist, 16-10, and each side had one corner kick.
Red Fox to Watch
Freshman forward Cameron Harr led the Red Foxes’ offense with three shots, including two on goal. He is also the team’s current leader in shots (12) and shots on goal (5).
Scouting the Bearcats
Binghamton is currently third in the America East after a 3-2 victory over MAAC opponent Saint Peter’s. The Bearcats have won their last three after also defeating Manhattan and Ohio State.
Freshman Conrad Nowowiejski, graduate student Pascal Trappe and senior Tucker Sandercock have each found the back of the net.
Binghamton fell just short of the America East title in 2014, falling to Hartford in the semifinals.
A Look Ahead
The Red Foxes will continue non-conference play when they travel to Stony Brook (1-2-1) for a 7 p.m. contest Wednesday, Sept. 16. Marist is 1-0 on the road this season, having defeated Saint Joseph’s in an overtime thriller in the regular season opener Aug. 28.
