Marist Women’s Soccer Returns To Campus
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist women’s soccer team has reported for preseason camp as it begins preparations for the 2014 season.
In the morning, the team took physicals and attended a mandatory NCAA meeting. The team took part in testing and drills Monday afternoon, and were scheduled to practice at the stadium on Monday night.
Seniors Amanda Epstein (Jericho, N.Y.) and Marissa Mertens (Hicksville, N.Y.) were selected to the Preseason All-MAAC Team for this year, and the Red Foxes were chosen to finish fourth in the conference’s preseason poll. Marist is in its fourth season under the direction of head coach Katherine Lyn.
"I am excited for the season to begin," Lyn said. "Everyone has come in well-prepared and ready to compete. It will be tough to find a consistent lineup, but it's a good problem to have."
Women’s soccer will be the first team at Marist to have its season opener in the 2014-15 school year. The Red Foxes open play on Friday, Aug. 22 with a home match against Seton Hall. Marist will have 10 home matches at Tenney Stadium, and its conference home opener will be against Siena on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m.
