Martin Wins Third MAAC Rookie Of The Week
LOUDONVILLE, NY – Aaron Martin was once again named the Rookie of the Week by the MAAC when the league announced their weekly honors Monday afternoon. The freshman becomes the first Siena Men's Soccer player ever to earn three Rookie of the Week honors in one season.
Helping the Saints to begin their Conference slate 2-0 for the third time in the past four seasons, the Madrid, Spain native assisted on Eamonn Conway's game-winning goal against Niagara last Wednesday to allow the team to carve out a 2-1 road victory over the Purple Eagles. Martin notched the lone score in the 71st minute of Saturday's MAAC home opener, leading the Saints to a 1-0 victory over Monmouth.
Steadying the squad with three goals and eight points, the forward is tied for seventh in the league in both scoring and goals.
Martin won back-to-back Rookie of the Week accolades on Sept. 3 and Aug. 27, becoming the first Siena player to do so in consecutive weeks in program history.
The Saints will look to begin conference play with a 3-0 mark for the first time since 2012 on Tuesday evening, when they travel to Manhattan College at 7:00 p.m.
