Stony Brook, N.Y. - Former Stony Brook men's soccer defender and captain Kyle McTurk has returned to the club as a volunteer assistant coach, head coach Ryan Anatol announced Tuesday.

 

"It is always good to welcome back one of your own," Anatol said. "Kyle was a great player and captain at Stony Brook, and he understands what it takes to be successful. I expect him to be a great coach and addition to our staff."

 

McTurk was a four-year letterwinner for the #Seawolves from 2008-11 and was a member of two America East Championship winning clubs in 2009 and 2011. He finished his career having appeared in 71 matches, starting 63 of them. He played in every #Seawolves match from 2009-11 and was part of 20 team shutouts.

 

In 2011, McTurk was named captain of the team, and delivered with leadership on the field, playing every minute of every match. His defense led to first-team All-America East honors, and he was named to the America East Championship All-Tournament team after helping lead Stony Brook to the title.

 

McTurk is a Long Island native, as he was born in Mineola and grew up in Hauppauge. He is a 2011 graduate of Stony Brook University and a 2008 graduate of Smithtown West High School.
