Men's Soccer Downed by Bucknell
Lewisberg, PA - The men's soccer team took on the Bison of Bucknell earlier tonight. Adelphi let up one goal early on in the match, and then another late in the first half before slipping into a deeper hole as the hosts tacked on another five in the second to serve the Panthers a 7-0 loss. In defeat, Adelphi drops to 1-5 while Bucknell advances to 3-1-2.
Right from the get-go, it was all Bucknell as shown by Brendan Burgdorf's opening game goal in the 6th minute. The Panther offense was slow to respond having only recorded two shots in the half. Jonathan Grad added a second goal late in the half to send the Brown and Gold into halftime down 2-0.
Joe Meyer notched his second goal of the season in th 46th minute to put the Panthers into an deficit they would not be able to overcome. Four more goals followed in the half to close the books on a 7-0 loss for Adelphi.
Alex Tengnas registered the only shot on goal in the game while Nicholas Costa had two shots with Brandon Stoneham, Jordan Hibbert, Alejandro Penzini and Yannick Laroche each taking one. Ahmad Salamah made six saves in the loss.
Adelphi looks to get back on track on Sunday, September 15 when they close out their Pennsylvania road trip at Penn State at 3:30 pm.
