Men's Soccer over Fisher College
PURCHASE, N.Y.— The Yeshiva men's soccer team remains undefeated in 2014, while improving its record to 3-0-0 overall after the Maccabees beat Fisher College 6-1 in a contest played at Purchase College Soccer Field on Friday morning.
Yeshiva scored three goals in the first half and another three in the second, en route to the five goal win. The Maccabees raced out to a 3-0 lead and led by that score at halftime. Yeshiva got the scoring started in the sixth minute when Itamar Ben David netted his first of two goals on the afternoon, 5:23 into the game. He took a pass on the near sideline by Sasha Bakal-Schlomann and blasted it past the Fisher goalkeeper to make the score 1-0. Then later in the half Adir Alon netted a goal to put Yeshiva ahead 2-0. Then with three seconds to go before halftime, Fisher was whistled for a foul inside the penalty box leading to a successful penalty kick by Aaron Braun which made the score 3-0.
In the second half, Fisher capitalized on a Yeshiva breakdown which led to the Maccabees allowing their first goal of the season as the Falcons' Jacob West put home a header from point blank range 2:34 into the stanza.
After that, the Maccabees scored three more goals to put the game out of reach and remain undefeated. Amihay Gerszberg scored his first NCAA goal to make the score 4-0, before Ben David and Alon rounded out the scoring later in the half.
Yeshiva held a 22-8 advantage on shots, including 11-3 in the first half and 11-5 in the second half.
Moishi Eisenmann got his first start of the season in goal and made two saves en route to earning the win.
Yeshiva returns to action on Sunday for a match at Penn State Brandywine at 2 p.m.
