Men's soccer picks up first win of 2011
Hamilton College scored two goals in the first half, and Eric Boole '13 made five saves to lead the Continentals to a 2-0 win against SUNY Institute of Technology in non-conference action at Hamilton's Love Field on Sept. 20.
Dillon Friday '12 scored the second goal of his Hamilton career, and Hennie Bosman '13 tallied the sixth of his career. Boole posted his ninth career shutout and first this year. Bennett Weinerman '12 was credited with his first assist of 2011.
Malick Faye '14 stopped six shots for SUNYIT. The Continentals are a perfect 21-0-0 all-time against the Wildcats.
Hamilton (1-2-1 overall) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute. Weinerman sent a cross from the right side of the 18-yard box to Friday, who volleyed the ball into the top right corner of the goal.
The Continentals went up by two goals in the 34th minute on Bosman's unassisted goal. Bosman won a race to a loose ball, dribbled to the top of the 18-yard box and fired a left-footed shot to the lower left side of the net. Dillon took a shot that went off the right post midway through the second half.
Hamilton ended up with a 14-8 shot advantage, and took five corner kicks to just one for SUNYIT. The Wildcats dropped to 1-4-1.
The Continentals host Amherst College for a NESCAC game on Saturday, Sept. 24. SUNYIT plays Penn State-Berks at home on Saturday as well.
