Men's Soccer Plays to Scoreless Tie
The Hamilton College men’s soccer team (1-1-0, 0-1-1 NESCAC) outshot visiting Bates (1-1-0, 0-1-1 NESCAC) en route to a scoreless tie in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) action Saturday.
Fred Porges ’14 recorded his first career shutout, stopping a pair of shots as the Continentals played to their first scoreless tie since Oct. 15, 2011 (at Bowdoin).
Zach Shabman ’16 recorded nine saves – including two in overtime – to preserve the shutout for the Bobcats.
Hamilton’s two best chances at an overtime game-winner came in the first 10-minute session. Just over a minute in, Griffin Abbott ’15 settled a long pass from Chris Holm ’15 in front of the box. With Shabman at the far post, Abbott’s quick shot went wide of the near post. Five minutes later Shabman came out of the box to stuff a breakaway by John McGuinnis ’16.
The Continentals return to action Tuesday with a 7 p.m. game at SUNY Institute of Technology.
