Men's Soccer Tops Franklin Pierce, 1-0
Box Score
Rindge, NH – It only took one goal for the Panthers to secure their ninth win of the season as they topped Franklin Pierce by a score of 1-0 earlier this afternoon. Diego Zuniga notched what would be the eventual game winner, his second of the season, in the first half of action. With the win, Adelphi advances to 9-4, 8-3 NE-10 while the Ravens level out their record at 6-6, 5-4 NE-10.
The Brown and Gold were selective with their shots throughout the entire 90 minutes as shown by just eight attempts. However, they put three of them on the mark, connecting on one of them. Zuniga, on a nice give and go from teammate Caelan Hueber, beat Sam Meza for the goal in the 33rd minute. It marks his third straight game with at least a goal or assist and his seventh point in as many contests.
The Panther's defense withstood a very aggressive Franklin Pierce offensive assault during the game. The Ravens posted double digit shot attempts in each frame, totaling 25 over the course of the contest. Of them, 15 were on the mark but none made it through thanks to the solid goalkeeping of junior Ahmad Salamah. His 15 saves is a new career high while the shutout marks his fifth straight in as many starts.
Zuniga accounted for half of the Panther's shots while TJ Butler added three and Nicholas Costa took one. The win marks Adelphi's sixth straight victory; all shutouts. They are outscoring opponents 13-0 during the streak and are currently one win away from the programs 500th victory.
