Men's Team of The Week: December 6
Charles Auguste’s first touch wasn’t his best — but it did force him into something spectacular. As the midfielder limbered into the final third, he made an awkward connection with a pass, sending the ball skittering forward on the turf. And with it in danger of giving it away, Auguste instead took two large strides and struck toward the top corner from 30 yards out. His shot swerved slightly, cutting off the inside of the post and careening into the net. It was the exclamation point on a commanding performance from the midfielder. With Creighton needing to seal the center of the park against Duke, Auguste offered enough production to send his side through to the College Cup. He assisted Creighton’s first, then scored their third, proving a crucial player in a 3-2 win over Duke. Without him, the Bluejays might have been watching the College Cup from home.
