A tour de force of creativity was just enough to help Notre Dame pick up a win against Virginia.

Senior Aidan McFadden’s excellent display didn’t come with a goal or assist. But he left his mark on the game, and it took a big effort from UVA freshman Alex Rando to keep the game going long into overtime.

McFadden did eventually break the tie in the second overtime, as his goal-bound header was turned into the goal off a Virginia defender. Forcing the winning own goal capped off a strong performance, nabbing Player of the Week honors for the Pennsylvania native.

The midfielder led his team with 6 Chances Created, as he completed 73% of 30 passes attempted. He also had 5 Key Passes, won 42% of 24 Challenges and won 2 of 4 dribbles.

GK Russell Shealy, Syracuse: Playing with 10 men for almost 40 minutes, Shealy’s eight-save effort helped the Orange secure a 1-1 draw on the road at Virginia Tech.

D Justin Malou, Clemson: The Tigers shutdown the NC State attack, keeping a zero on the board in a tightly-contested game. Malou played the full 90 in the 1-0 victory.

D Bryce Washington, Pittsburgh: A towering header from the defender opened the scoring as Pitt cruised to a 4-1 road win against Louisville. Washington completed 99% of 79 passes and won 88% of his Challenges.

M Soren Jensen, Central Arkansas: UCA handed Georgia State another defeat over the weekend, with Jensen’s first half goal the eventual difference in a 2-0 win.

M Omar Hernandez, Wake Forest: It took a sensational free kick from Hernandez to engineer the winning goal as the Demon Deacons scored two stellar goals in a 2-1 defeat of Duke.

M Veljko Petkovic, Pittsburgh: Another impressive effort from the sophomore saw the New York City FC Academy product setup the game’s first two goals.

M Aiden McFadden, Notre Dame: Experience is crucial in closely contested ACC matches. McFadden stepped up in a big way to help the Irish hold serve on home turf.

F Nicholas Blacklock, Virginia Tech: While the Hokies weren’t able to capitalize on being up a man, Blacklock’s goal in the first half assured that they wouldn’t go down in defeat.

F Grayson Barber, Clemson: With NC State’s defense holding firm, a moment of magic from Barber was enough to secure the three points in the ACC matchup over the weekend.

F Ethan Hackenberg, Coastal Carolina: The freshman scored his second goal in college soccer, providing the overtime winner for the Chanticleers. With the win, the team extended their record to 4-0.

F Calvin Harris, Wake Forest: Harris opened the scoring against Duke with an impressive strike from distance as the Demon Deacons would go on to win it by a 2-1 score.
