Millay named UMKC women's assistant
March 27, 2012
The UMKC women’s soccer program announced Thursday that Erica Millay will join the staff as the Assistant Coach. Millay is already familiar with the program, serving as a graduate assistant manager this past season for the ‘Roos.
Millay is no stranger to head coach Chris Cissell either, playing for him at William Jewell from 2004-08. While there she was a two-time All-American and served as team captain for three seasons. She helped the Cardinals to the national tournament in three of her four years as well.
“We are thrilled to add Erica to our soccer family in a full-time capacity.” Cissell said, “It is great to have someone that knows my coaching style and the players, and I think we will really benefit from her deep roots in the Kansas City area.”
Millay earned Academic All-America honors three times in her playing career at WJC, while grabbing a spot on the Dean’s List every year during her time there. She also earned a NSCAA Champion of Character honor as a senior.
During her time there, she served as a coach for summer camps under Cissell, and when her career was finished, Millay coached youth soccer in Kansas City.
Millay is a graduate of Blue Springs High School, where she played under current Missouri Comets assistant head coach Doug McLagan. She earned all-district, all-conference and all-state accolades there, and led the team to a third place finish in the state as a senior in 2004.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from William Jewell in 2008, with a minor in coaching and performance enhancement. Millay will graduate with her master’s degree in counseling and guidance this May from UMKC.
Millay, formerly Greco, was married in the summer of 2011. She and her husband Brett reside in Kansas City.
