Men’s Soccer Grounds Skyhawks 1-0 In Durango
DURANGO – Colorado School of Mines men's soccer earned its first win at Fort Lewis in four seasons Sunday as the Orediggers completed the weekend sweep through southwestern Colorado with a 1-0 win at Dirks Field in Durango.
Senior Tannor Randle notched his second go-ahead free kick score of the season in the 59th minute, keying Mines (8-4, 6-2 RMAC) to only its fifth road victory in the series and first since a 4-2 decision on Oct. 1, 2010.
The Skyhawks (7-5, 5-3 RMAC) finished 14-11 in shots, while both sides sent six to frame.
Randle and junior Joe Haines each had two tries on goal; junior Richard Garvey and senior Matthew Alemann recorded one apiece.
Freshman Josh Clark (4-1) won for the fourth time in five starts, securing his initial collegiate shutout with five saves across the 90:00 minutes.
Currently tied for second with NSCAA No. 19 Metro State in the RMAC standings, the men host conference leader Colorado Mesa at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at CSM Soccer Stadium.
