Mountain Hawks Announce Team Awards
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's soccer team announced the program's three postseason team awards on Thursday, which went to a trio of seniors. Ally Friedman, Grace Forsyth and Mackenzie Anton were all recognized.
Friedman was named the Mountain Hawks' Outstanding Athlete. A mainstay in the lineup since her freshman year, Friedman continued to anchor Lehigh's back line, which finishing fourth in the Patriot League in goals against average (0.60). The Mountain Hawks allowed just four goals in six games, which included three overtime contests and three shutouts. Friedman started all six games and also added five shots, two on goal – three of the shots coming in the season finale against Loyola.
Meanwhile, Forsyth received the Scholar-Athlete Award for her success in the classroom and on the field. Academically, Forsyth owns a stellar 3.90 cumulative grade point average in Molecular Biology, earning a spot on the Dean's List every semester and a spot on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, while posting a perfect 4.0 GPA this fall. On the field, Forsyth started all six games at forward and recorded four shots, two on goal.
Anton garnered the Coaches Award, presented to the player(s) who is selfless in her actions and may go unnoticed by others. Anton started in all five games she played in 2021, as an integral part of Lehigh's strong defense. In her five games played, the Mountain Hawks allowed just three goals with five shutouts.
The Mountain Hawks finished the season 1-2-3, beating American (1-0) while tying Bucknell (0-0), Colgate (1-1) and Loyola (0-0).
