MTSU alum Jones participating in Algarve Cup
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee alum Shan Jones was selected to the Wales Women’s National Team for the 2013 Algarve Cup.
Wales announced the 21 person roster earlier this week with Jones (2008-2011) as a selection. The 2012 graduate finished her outstanding Middle Tennessee career with 32 goals, 75 points and 12 game winners during her tenure – all ranking in the top 10 in program history.
Jones, a native of Y Felinheli, Wales also earned preseason All-Sun Belt honors and third team NSCAA All-South Region accolades during her tenure with the Blue Raiders. She was also named the 2008 Sun Belt Freshman of the Year, along with a first team All-Sun Belt selection.
The Algarve Cup is a global competition between 12 national teams held in Algarve, Portugal. Wales is in group C with Hungary, Mexico and Portugal. Wales opens pool play with Portugal on Wednesday, March 6. To follow the action of the tournament, click here.
