NJIT's Oldham Invited to NY Red Bull Combine
NEWARK, NJ—Senior Rickardo Oldham has been invited to the New York Red Bulls collegiate combine, which will be held at the clubs' training facility in Whippany, NJ on December 16-17.
The announcement was made by NJIT head coach Fernando Barboto, who completed his first season at NJIT Friday afternoon. "Rickardo (Oldham) being invited into the Red Bulls combine says a lot about him as a player and NJIT soccer, a rising program in Division I." "The coaching staff is happy for the opportunity given to Ricardo."
Oldham joined the Highlanders in 2015 after representing, Jamaica on the u23 national team in the CFU Olympic qualifiers tournament.
In his first season, Oldham ranked first on the team in assists (3), third in points (7), in addition to netting his first goal and game-winners as a Highlander against Marist on September 5.
After battling early season injuries during his senior campaign, Oldham finished fourth on the team in points (5), including one goal and three assists.
In his two seasons at NJIT, Oldham notched six assists, which ranks fourth in the NJIT Division I era.
Prior to arriving at NJIT, Oldham spent two seasons for Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa, guiding the Mavericks to their 16th Region II National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) championship and clinching the Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference title. Oldham was recognized as the Region II NJCAA Tournament MVP (2014) and team MVP (2013 and 2014).
