No. 13 Orediggers Topple Colorado Christian, 2-0

GOLDEN – Propelled by freshmen Caitlin Kaltenbaugh and Anna Deleray for the second time in three home games, NSCAA No. 13 Colorado School of Mines women's soccer extended its program-best unbeaten streak to 20 games with a workmanlike 2-0 shutout of Colorado Christian on Sunday.

The fifth straight shutout and 11th in the past 13 matches upped the Orediggers' consecutive minutes streak without a goal allowed to 503:12.

Just as in the home-opener against St. Mary's on Sept. 13, Kaltenbaugh put Mines on the board within the opening minutes Sunday, gathering a free ball in front of the goal and putting her second of the season to the lower, right-90 at 8:20.

Deleray followed with her season's second score in the 30th minute, footing a rebound from 12 yards away to the left netting after sophomore Deirdre Johnson caromed a shot off the right post to the short right wing.

Behind its pressing, aggressive offense, Mines controlled much of the possession, outshooting the Cougars (4-2, 1-1 RMAC) 19-3 and 9-1 in shots on goal, while earning a season-high 11 corner attempts.

Kaltenbaugh and Deleray led the women with two on-goal looks. Seniors Anna Evans and Kelsey Neal, junior Kendra Bulawa and freshman Jaclyn Knott each had one shot on net.

In addition to outscoring their opponents 12-1 through six matches thus far, Mines has not trailed in the previous 1179:59 minutes dating back to the first half against UC-Colorado Springs on Oct. 26, 2012.

Sophomore Jayln Yates moved to 5-0-1 between the pipes and pulled within 10 of matching Briana Schulze (2007-10) and the school's career shutouts record of 26, denying the one CCU shot on frame.

The Orediggers close the homestand at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27 against reigining RMAC regular season champion Regis (2-2-1, 0-1-1 RMAC).
