No. 18 New Mexico Ends ODU's Winning Streak
NO. 18 NEW MEXICO ENDS ODU’S THREE-GAME WINNING STREAK
ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Chris Wehan scored two first half goals to lead the 18th ranked Lobos of New Mexico to a 4-0 Conference USA victory over Old Dominion late Saturday night before a crowd of 2,544 at UNM Soccer Complex. The loss ended ODU’s three-game winning streak as the Monarchs are now 7-5-1 overall and 2-2-1 in C-USA, while New Mexico is 10-3-1 overall and 3-2 in the league.
For Wehan, the goals were his sixth and seventh of the season while Josh Goss added the third first half goal for the Lobos. New Mexico outshot the Monarchs 20-4, as Tyler Edwards had a shot on goal which was saved by Patrick Poblete. Ryan Condotta, Jesse Miralrio and Chris Schroeer also had shots on the night.
Four of ODU's five losses have been to nationally ranked teams which include Virginia, North Carolina, UNC Wilmington and New Mexico.
The Monarchs return to home to host South Carolina Wednesday night at the ODU Soccer Complex at 7 p.m.
