Northeastern women's soccer falls to Brown
BOSTON - The Northeastern women's soccer team played in its third overtime match through its first seven games this season, but Brown scored the game-winning goal in the sixth minute of overtime to claim a 2-1 win in at Stevenson Field Thursday night.
In their previous overtime games, the Huskies tied Northwestern and New Hampshire, with both games ending 1-1.
NU played in just two overtime games through all of 2012.
Northeastern claimed a 1-0 lead in the 39th minute on Bianca Calderone's first goal of the season. Kimberly Slade assisted on the score.
The Huskies took that lead into halftime, marking the second time this season they have led at the break.
Northeastern also held a 1-0 halftime lead against Northwestern on Aug. 30.
The Huskies and Bears each had seven shots in the first half, but Brown came out firing in the second half and attempted six shots in the first 14 minutes of the period.
The Bear's second-half offensive onslaught resulted in a goal scored by Erin Katz in the 79th minute.
In all, the Huskies were outshot by Brown, 17-9.
Chloe Cross scored the game-winning goal in overtime for Brown.
NU gets a lengthy rest before hosting Maine on Friday, Sept. 20. Kick off is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Parsons Field.
