NORFOLK, Va. – (RV) Old Dominion (3-1-1) men’s soccer defeats #18 Radford (4-1-0) on Sunday, Sept. 11, on day two of the ODU Soccer Classic. Sebastian Hauret scored the game-winning goal in the 87^th minute helping the Monarchs defeat the undefeated #18 Highlanders and earned the 'Man of the Match' honors for the second time this season.

The Highlanders stepped up the offensive pressure in the second half with eight shots and four corners, but it was Sebastian Hauret who got the Monarchs on the board for the only goal of the match. Hauret’s goal, his first of the season, came on a cross pass (left to right) from Jimmy Filerman to connect in front of the net.

The match was even throughout a scoreless first half with #18 Radford holding a one shot advantage 8-7 over ODU.

Alex Tiesenhausen (3-1-1) picked up his third win in goal and his first shutout of the season with eight saves on 16 attempts by #18 Radford. Nicolas Mertzokat (0-1-0) was dealt the loss, giving up the only goal of the match after recording four saves on 13 attempts by the Monarchs.

Old Dominion is back in action next Saturday, Sept. 17, as they open up conference action against the #9 ranked Charlotte 49ers at 7 p.m. at the ODU Soccer Complex.
