ODU Men's Soccer Collects Fourth Straight
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican men's soccer team extended their winning streak to four after defeating the visiting Storm of Lake Erie Sunday afternoon on Panther Field.
With the win, the Panthers move to 11-4-1 overall and 8-3 in the GLIAC while the Storm fall to 5-11 and 4-8 on the season.
Senior Justin Wheeler (Gahanna, Ohio) chipped in his fifth goal of the season to the right side of the net after sophomore Frazer Fernandes (Gahanna, Ohio) passed the ball through the defense to the 10 yard line.
The Storm threatened to tie the game at 1-1 when James Grogan lined up to take a penalty shot at the five yard line in the 63rd minute. Freshman keeper Macklin Robinson (Cincinnati, Ohio) dove to his right to deny Grogan's shot and keep the Panthers ahead 1-0.
The Panther defense held strong, allowing just three shots in the first half and just four in the second.
Overall, OUD outshot the Storm 18-7 and held a 4-3 advantage in cornerkicks.
Robinson recorded his seventh win of the season and collected two saves in goal.
ODU will next compete on Friday, Oct. 26 for a 7 pm conference game against Malone on Panther Field.
