ODU Men's Soccer Outlasts Ashland
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican men's soccer team defeated the visiting Ashland Eagles 3-1 on a cold Friday evening on Panther Field.
With the win, the Panthers move to 7-4-1 overall and 6-3 in the conference while the Eagles drop to 7-4-1 and 6-3 in the GLIAC.
Senior Drew Edler (Hilliard, Ohio) knocked in his first goal of the season and game after sophomore Frazer Fernandes (Gahanna, Ohio) kicked the ball to the five yard line.
Senior Colby Catlett (Hilliard, Ohio) added another goal at the 26:38 mark to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead before the half when he connected from senior Justin Wheeler (Gahanna, Ohio) to the left side of the goal.
At the 35:47 mark, the Eagles Eric Ashley cut the lead to one after he had an open shot on goal.
Following the break, Catlett added an insurance goal in the 82nd minute when he hooked up with sophomore Jakob Szabo (Worthington, Ohio) for his second goal of the game.
The Panthers offense paced the game, outshooting the Eagles 21-10 and held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Freshman goalie Macklin Robinson (Cincinnati, Ohio) picked up his third win this year and recorded two saves.
The Panthers return to action this Sunday, Oct. 14 as they host Walsh on Panther Field for a 4:00 pm conference match.
