ODU Women's Soccer Garners Third Straight
COLUMBUS, Ohio – With their third straight win, the Ohio Dominican women' soccer team battled cold weather and biting winds as they defeated Malone University by the score of 2-0 Sunday evening at Panther Field.
With the win, the Panthers improve to 7-4-2 overall and 3-3-2 in conference action while the Pioneers fall to 2-9-1 overall and 0-7-1 in the GLIAC.
Freshman Lauren Pratt (West Chester, Ohio) got the Panther started, scoring her sixth goal of the season and the first of the game in the 33rd minute after junior Megan Augusta (Lyndhurst, Ohio) sent a cross to the five yard line for Pratt to connect on.
Following the break, August found sophomore Jordan Mazzi (Galena, Ohio) for the 2-0 lead, after a deflection from a previous shot.
The Panthers defense highlighted the 2-0 win as they managed to hold the Pioneers to just five shots, including two on goal, while ODU managed 26 shots and 10 on goal.
ODU edged Malone in corner kicks 6-4.
Sophomore goalie Laura Clark (Lapeer, Mich.) notched two saves in goal.
The Panthers return to action Friday, October 12 as they head to Michigan for a conference matchup against Northern Michigan at 4:00 p.m.
