ODU's Klosterhalfen named CUSA Frosh of Year
Old Dominion midfielder Niko Klosterhalfen has been named Conference USA's Freshman of the Year, the league announced on Tuesday.
The Germany native is second on the team in scoring with 11 points on four goals and three assists. A starter in 13 of ODU’s 15 matches, Klosterhalfen was also named the 40th-best freshman in the country by Top Drawer Soccer earlier this season. The last Monarch to earn conference Freshman/Rookie of the Year was Steffen Rabben in 2008 (CAA).
In addition to Klosterhalfen, seven other Monarchs garnered all-conference accolades. Ivan Militar and Michael Nelson were named First Team All-C-USA, Alex Tiesenhausen landed on the Second Team and David Macsicza, Jesse Miralrio and Cole Stringer all earned Third Team honors. Jack Willbye was also named to the All-Freshman Team.
