Ordonez Powers Kats to Fourth-Straight Win

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. - Oct. 13 - Behind two first-half goals by sophomore forward Pablo Ordonez (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Cheektowaga), the Erie Community College men's soccer team picked up its fourth consecutive victory, a 3-0 decision over Niagara County Community College Thursday at the ECC South Campus.
Ordonez now has scored 18 goals this season, the most since 2006 when Jason Gritzke scored 18 for the Kats. Ordonez's goals rank fifth in NJCAA Division III play while his 42 points rank seventh overall. Ordonez's 42 points are the most at ECC since Roosevelt Connell recorded 50 points in 2005.
Ordonez scored on a penalty kick eight minutes into the match and added a goal 27 minutes later with an assist going to Phil Karlstrom (Silver Creek, N.Y./Silver Creek).
Ron Cox (Lackawanna, N.Y./Lackawanna) added a goal in the second half with the assist credited to Naef Al-Hajjaji (Lackawanna, N.Y./Lackawanna). Freshman goalkeeper Rich Bund (Silver Creek, N.Y./Silver Creek) made nine saves for his second consecutive shutout and fourth complete game shutout of the season.
The Kats, 7-6, play at Jamestown Community College Saturday.
