Panthers Earn 4-2 Win Over Lake Erie
PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's soccer team scored three goals in the first half and added and insurance tally in the second, to earn a 4-2 victory over Lake Erie on Sunday afternoon on the Storm's senior day.
Freshman Madison Baldwin (Zanesville, Ohio) gave the Panthers (9-5-2; 6-4-1 GLIAC) an early 1-0 lead in the first minute of the game after she recovered a rebound from her own shot and connected with her second from eight yards out to net her sixth goal of the season.
At the 10:57 mark, the Storm responded after Paige Nemec headed in a free kick from teammate Elizabeth Awuah after a foul in the penalty box by ODU.
The Panthers regained the lead in the 29th minute when senior Megan Augusta (Lyndhurst, Ohio) converted a corner kick from sophomore Summer Bourcier (Mansfield, Ohio) for her first goal of the season. Junior Emily Spencer (Gibsonia, Pa.) added a tally for ODU late in the first half, hitting home a cross from freshman Alexa Scardina (Cincinnati, Ohio) for her first goal of the season and a Panther 3-1 lead.
Midway through the second half, sophomore Sydney Simpson (Avon, Ohio) gave the Panthers a 4-1 lead off a sophomore Lauren Pratt (West Chester, Ohio) corner kick.
Nemec cut the Lake Erie to two, 4-2, in the final minute of the game, but it wasn't enough for the Storm.
Ohio Dominican will take a week's rest to prepare for its regular season finale with Ashland on Saturday, Nov. 2.
