Panthers Extend Streak to Three With 2-1 Win
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican men's soccer team overcame an early 1-0 deficit with two unanswered goals to earn a 2-1 victory over Walsh on Sunday afternoon at Panther Field.
The Panthers have now won three straight matches and improve their record to 6-2-1 (5-2 GLIAC) while the Cavaliers drop to 3-6 (3-4).
The visiting Cavaliers took an early 1-0 edge 12 minutes into the game when Bailey Moody knocked in his first goal of the season off a throw in by Adam Gonia. Gonia heaved the ball to the five yard line for Moody, who sent the header into the right side of the net.
Sophomore Brent Wahle (Pataskala, Ohio) evened the game 1-1 in the 18th minute for his second goal of the season from a pass from sophomore Caleb Wilson (Reynoldsburg, Ohio). Wilson played a nice ball to the 10 yard line for an awaiting Wahle, who drilled home the tying goal into the right side of the net.
Wahle gave the Panthers the lead for good in the 49th minute after breaking through Walsh's defense to cut back to his left and sending his second goal of the day and third of the season into the left side of the goal.
ODU ended the night with a 19-9 advantage in shots, including 12 in the second half.
Sophomore keeper Macklin Robinson (Cincinnati, Ohio) improved his record to 3-2-1 and collected three saves in goal.
The Panthers will have a long seven day break before returning to Panther Field for a 4 p.m. contest against Lake Erie next Sunday.
