Cleveland, Ohio - Freshman Alleina Szydlowski scored and assisted and freshman keeper Paige Lincicum posted her first collegiate shutout to lead Milwaukee to a 2-0 victory over Cleveland State University Saturday night at Krenzler Field.

UWM (5-7-1, 3-0-0 Horizon) handed the Vikings (7-6-1, 1-2-0) their first home loss of the season after CSU had previously been 6-1-1 on its home field.

The win is the third-straight for the Panthers, who now sit alone atop the league standings with nine points. It also marks win number 299 in program history.

"I thought we played a really solid match," Milwaukee head coach Greg Henschelsaid. "We're working really hard right now and we continue to show the things we're working on and showing in training. I was really pleased with the effort and I'm really proud of the women for getting to 3-0 to start conference play."

The Panthers got on the board right out of the gates in just the seventh minute of the game. Kelsey Holbert fired a free kick from 25 yards out right at the goal. Viking keeper Sarah Wood was able to make the initial save, but Szydlowski immediately pounced on the rebound for her first collegiate goal.

"That was a great first goal," Henschel said. "Kelsey had a good shot on frame and we did well to follow it up as Al was right there to get the rebound. It was really nice to get on the board early there."

Holbert again almost scored on a blast from distance just before the break, but Wood was able to push the ball over the crossbar and keep UWM to just a one-goal lead at the half.

Krissy Dorre then made it 2-0 for Milwaukee midway through the second half off a shot from 10 yards out for her league-leading eighth goal of the season, with assists going to Amy Kauffung and Szydlowski. 

"Just like our first goal, our second was set up off a free kick," Henschel said. "It was a nice service ball from Amy that was played back across and Krissy did well to finish the goal."

With a two-goal lead, the Panthers kept pushing for more, but Kelly Lewers' shot in the 74th minute hit the crossbar and Wood was able to reign in the rebound.

Lincicum was called on to make three saves on the night for her first career shutout.

"Paige played very well tonight. Our whole team played very well tonight defensively and their communication seems to be improving each match," Henschel said. "She had a little activity but did real well. She has been working very hard back there and improving all season. I was really pleased to see her get the shutout."

Milwaukee dominated the stat sheet on the night, outshooting the Vikings 13-6. Corner kicks were 9-1 in Milwaukee's favor. UWM made three saves to CSU's four and the foul count was 11-8, Cleveland State.

The Panthers stay on the road next week with a matchup against Wright State next Saturday. Kick off from Dayton, Ohio is set for 1 p.m. Central.
