Panthers Rally to Force Draw with La Roche
The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men’s soccer team rallied in the second half of Saturday’s game against La Roche to force a 1-1 draw to remain unbeaten in conference play.
The Redhawks led 1-0 after the first 45 minutes on a Pitt-Bradford miscue. The Panthers attempted to clear the ball in the 20th minute when La Roche’s Danylo Andrew wrestled away possession and scored.
In the 62nd minute, Nicholas Walker tied the game on a ball played through by Shane Gebert. It was Walker’s second tally of the year.
Tied at one after 90 minutes, the game would move to overtime, and eventually double-overtime. Both squads had several chances in the extra frames, but neither team could convert.
Pitt-Bradford outshot the Redhawks 23-20 despite La Roche holding an 8-5 advantage in corner kicks. Adam Forster finished with seven saves in net for the Panthers.
Pitt-Bradford (4-5-2) will host Penn State Behrend on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
