Panthers Shutout Findlay 2-0
FINDLAY, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican men's soccer team picked up its second straight win as the Panthers posted a 2-0 shutout victory over Findlay University on Friday afternoon at DeHaven Field.
The Panthers are now 5-2-1 (4-2 GLIAC) while the Oilers are 2-6-1 (0-6).
Sophomore Nigel Patterson (Woodbridge, Ontario) initiated the scoring at the 26:38 mark as he picked up a loose ball, drove to the goal and finished with a zipping goal into the bottom left side of the net for his first goal of the season.
For the remainder of the half, the Panther defense held strong, allowing Findlay just four shots.
ODU added another tally in the 64th minute thanks to a pair of juniors in Jakob Szabo (Worthington, Ohio) and Frazer Fernandes (Gahanna, Ohio). Szabo was unmarked in the box and calmly found Fernandes, who sent a header into the right side of the net for his fourth goal of the season.
Sophomore keeper Justin Alexander (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) picked up his second win and shutout of the season, facing five shots on goal.
The Panthers will return to action on Sunday, Oct. 6 as the Panthers welcome Walsh to Panther Field for a 2 p.m. contest.
