Panthers Soar Over Southern Indiana 3-0
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's soccer team (1-0-0) opened up their season with a 3-0 home win over visiting Southern Indiana (0-1-0) on Thursday, August 30 and Panther Field.
The Panthers grabbed the early momentum shift as sophomore Emily Spencer (Gibsonia, Pa.) scored her first career goal in a Panther uniform at the 1:55 mark. Quickly following suit, junior Megan Augusta (Lyndhurst, Ohio) added her first goal of the 2012 season from Spencer, to put the Panthers ahead 2-0.
Controlling the ball and tempo, the Panthers would go into halftime leading 2-0 and outshooting the Screaming Eagles 8-3.
At the 88:09 mark, Augusta would strike again with her second goal of the game and seal the 3-0 win for the Black and Gold.
Sophomore goalie Laura Clark posted her first shutout of the season while grabbing six saves.
The Panthers return to action on Sunday, September 2 as they take on the Knights of Bellermine College. Game time is expected to start at 1:00 p.m.
